Thirsting for God Psalm 27, 42—43, 63 August 12, 2012
Psalm 27 · How do you feel when you have to wait a long time for something you really want? · What are some events, people, or things that are worth waiting for? · What does it mean to "wait for the Lord"? · What does this Psalm teach us about prayer? · How do you think you could improve your prayer habits? Psalm 63 · What do you like to drink when you’re really thirsty? · If you were to be stranded on a deserted island, what are three things you would want to have with you?
· Try writing a Psalm of your own to God using the following headings:
Desiring God (vv. 1-2) Like a thirsty child reaching for a drink, I grasp for you, O God. And I have found you. I have sensed your holy presence in the worship service; in the prayer time, I have felt you to be near. I realize now that your love for me is far better than life itself.
Praising God (vv. 3-5) My heart is full of joy and contentment. My mouth is filled with praises for You. Even the night hours are no longer lonely as I contemplate Your tender concern for me.
Rejoicing in God (vv. 9-11) The enemies of my soul still seek to betray me, but they shall not snatch me out of your hand. And now that I have found You, I shall be secure and happy forever. | ||
